In future if the road needs to be closed between the Calderbridge and Gosforth junction, the closures will be better advertised to avoid the problems caused recently. Road closure times will be reduced to 12-6am. There is a possibility that in due course an alternative emergency route could be opened.
Cllr Norman Clarkson sent his apologies via Dorothy for not getting back to Edward and Lesley regarding the speeding issues at Grange. It was agreed that the Clerk would contact Norman to ask for any suggestions he may have.
The possibility of putting together a questionnaire for the parish on managing radioactive waste was discussed. It was agreed to forward any possible questions to PC members for consideration. The Clerk to invite Cllr Elaine Woodburn and an NDA representative to our next meeting to discuss the storage of waste.
A letter was received from the Housing Renewal Team at CBC asking us to identify any empty/dilapidated properties in the parish – none were identified.
A map was received indicating the possible level of street cleaning that may be carried out in our areas.
The Clerk spoke to Martin Jepson as she hadn’t heard a reply from Alan Southward on the above. The boundary is still in discussion and Martin couldn’t give any timescales as to when it would be sorted. Regarding the vacancies, as no-one has requested an election, we can co-opt two people on. Steve Hunter and Susan Brown were both co-opted onto the parish council. The Clerk to forward them the “Register of Members’ Interest” forms to be completed for the next meeting.
A new hire agreement form has been received from the Village Hall Committee as it has been updated.
A letter was received from Works 4 You Ltd offering to do general maintenance jobs in the parish. These works can be tailor made for our needs and budget. We didn’t feel that we would use this service, but the Clerk to obtain some costs.
It was decided to do a litter pick in the parish on Sunday 2nd March at 2pm, starting at either the church car park, or Winder Lea. Wiz kindly agreed to reward the litter pickers with refreshments afterwards.
Comments are requested regarding the diversion of the bridleway at Uldale Farm. The proposed route is much safer, and all were in favour of it.
An invoice for £30 has been received from CALC for “New councillor training” which Steve and Sue attended.
The annual meeting of parish councils, town councils and CBC will be held on 9th March 2009.
